I still flirt with coming home from school early to a signaling of worry and trepidation. The TV was on and my mother was calling one relative after another trying to make convinced(predicate) e veryone was safe. One of my cousins worked just blocks away from the WTC and told stories about running away from a huge cloud of smoke, not clear-sighted if she would be able to breathe if it caught up with her. As an 8 year old honoring all of this unfold, I didnt really understand what al-Qaeda was or why anyone would do this. But as I watched the two towers burn to the flat coat and saw pictures of large number jumping out of buildings because they thought that was the exclusively way theyd survive, I did understand the horror of the self-colored situation. That was the most significant image I have of watching 9/11 and also from the book. I cringed at the pictures that showed people in mid-air right next to the building, and although at first I didnt know what it was; I wish I never found out. In the book the hardest parts to get through and through were the messages Oskars Dad left on the answering machine.
I knew that Oskar was trying to protect his family, but it was so sad to agnise him hurt mainly because he thought he was painfulness alone. Overall, although 9/11 and Oskars liberation is all very depressing, sadness was not the only emotion I mat throughout the book. Oskars journey was fueled by the loss of his father, and I found it very inspirational that he tried to keep the connection alive that he had with his Dad, even though his Dad was not around.
