Wilfred Owens Futility is a rime about distress for the untamed of a young life story in fight.  Owen is considered to be unmatchable of the greatest poets of World War I, speaking out openly against its horrors which he experienced firsthand in the trenches. Futility is a poem of fourteen lines, full of emotion and passion. The poem concerns the body of a soldier who is not named, but it appears to be some ace that the parting knew personally. Debate is underway whether it is still relevant to todays society for Australia to commemorate events from 100 years ago, such as the Gallipoli landing or whether ANZAC Day has become obsolete.

The narrator of this poem is angry at a needless death of a young man. Not discriminating who the soldier in the poem is, it allows the poem to be to a greater extent open with who it is describing; it can be describing any soldier. This poem as well as serves as an elegy, which is a song, poem, or speech that expresses grief for one who is dead, and it is usually downhearted in tone.
The persona compares the young husbandmans normal world peaceful, in tune with the nations rhythm (waking and sleeping with the suns cycle) producing nutrient from the earth, the necessities of life.
