Summer 1987
I remember puzzleting on my grandma Martinezs lap as a itty-bitty girl. Her sweet smells of perfume lingering in my nose and sense of hearing her earrings jingle like soft bells during Christmas. As I would sit on her lap she would laugh the most comforting bureau that would blanket you with the feeling of joy. When I was eight years old, I remember staying with my grandma for the summer. It was just her and I. I loved beingness with her, and it made me feel very particular(a). Not only special but it made me happy it was just going to be her and I. Not my sister, nor any of my numerous cousins. My grandma Martinez would wake me up early in the summer mornings, where she would have fresh homespun tortillas and fried potatoes. The smell of her wonderful food would engulf all room of her 2nd story apartment, yummy.
After breakfast she would institute me ready so we could go for an afternoon trip to town. Which at the time I always knew it would be fun-filled? Our afternoon trips consisted of manner of walking down the block from where she lived to the White Spot Café for a lilliputian lunch. Then heading down to Montgomery Ward to go and get a few things she may have indispensable or wanted. I loved going shopping with her, because she would go into the stores get what she was there for and that was it.
I was never was a shopper non like most girls. My grandmother was a very timid, jump and respectful woman that liked to stay too herself. Now, simulatet get me wrong, you need to understand if someone talked to her. She was a very polite soft spoken lady. Her voice was mollify and inviting to everyone. To me it was like she was a magnet with such a gruelling squelch. She had such confidence and class, it was as if she was a great force you couldnt resist.
