Short Story - My Mother

It was angiotensin converting enzyme of those winters. Those winters where the defiant slue blew refine\nthrough you, same it knew all in all your secrets. The trees shivered in the cold, amused, daring\nyou to involution back. Their bony figures rocked in the wind, winning it while they could, until\ntheyd admit that it was the wind that was the strongest. After a emotional state of peaceful struggle,\ntheir weakened forms would kneeling before their master, and collapse into the snow, envisage of the endless slumber that wait them. Just looking outside, you could line up\ntheir icy branches, like arms, enwrap around your skin. Protecting you from the wedge that\nwas coming.\nMy m separate got up from the windowpanepane seat. The blue cushion, thick as a memory,\ninflated with the absence of her weight. She walked into the kitchen and selected a\ncarton of draw from the fridge. She glanced around the room, taking in the sight of\nunopened charge on the counter, and t he smell of barelytered toast. Finally, she colonized at the\nkitchen table, in figurehead of yester twenty-four hourss newspaper. She sipped her tea and listened to the\ngusts of wind blowing aside the windows and through the porch. She looked so peaceful.\nQuiet, but entirely content. I smiled at her, and then she looked at me.\nIts gonna be a cold oneness today, she said, looking out the window now. Her\nvelvet voice soothed my spirits. I loved Saturday mornings in December, for reasons like\nthis. Wed sit, fiery and comfortable, take our breakfasts and staring out at the snow.\nI would look at the trees, cradling families of snowflakes in their arms. I wondered if\nthey envied us, warm in our pajamas and housecoats, on the other side of the glass.
