Rosa Parks

Breauna Maynard September 19th 2011 Period 3rd Harrison genus genus genus Rosa position Rosa Parks was born February 4th 1913 in Tuskegee Alabama. Father James McCauley was a carpenter and mother Leona McCauley was a teacher. Her mother and father got confused and she and her mother moved to Montgomery Alabama when she was eleven. Her mother therefore enrolled her into Indus tally schools for girls, and of the teachers their where white but the whole student carcass majority were black. In 1932 at the age of nineteen Rosa got married and moved to Detroit area with her husband Raymond in 1957. They had no children together and he ended up passing out in 1977. Both she and her husband were members of the (NAACP) National Association for the promotional material of Colored People. On December 1st 1955 Rosa Parks a black African American muliebrity refused giving up her seat to a white human being on a public bus. She was just getting rancid of work and refused to stand. She was then arrested and put in jail. Rosas trial was on December 5th and the court found her guilty. Her lawyers Fred grayness and Charles Langford filed an appeal, and she was later fined $10.00 plus $4.00 in court expenses this then very started the boycott.

Later on Rosa, Martin Luther King and members of the NAACP fought to change laws for the rights of African Americans to sport the same rights as whites. November 13th 1965 blacks who made up 75% of bus riders, segregation on buses became illegal. Rosa also had a lot of leadership. She was a spokeswoman for civil rights and won numerous honors for her work. The African American of Achievement inducted her into its hall of fame in 1995. Cleveland Avenue in the city of Montgomery was renamed Rosa Parks Boulevard in 1965. President Bill Clinton in 1996 awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest honor.
