Philadelphias Chinatown The neighborhood that I decided to do explore on is one close to people from Philadelphia identify as China Town. This area is third largest China town in the get together States. The neighborhood stretches from Vine to Arch Street and 8th to thirteenth Street. The area is rich in East Asian Culture. When one walks around the language, restaurants, interactions, buildings and shops could give the illusion that they were in Asia. In the 1840s an influx of Chinese men made their way to the linked States because they heard of job opportunities and had hopes of making more money. These men unexpended China in the midst of a civil war and anticipated a purport of wealth in the join States. The gold rush had just occurred in the states and some Chinese hoped to find gold so they leave their old life behind for good. Unfortunately when the Chinese came to the U.S. they lived in poverty for most of their lives. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 made it very grueling for Chinese immigrants to make a home for themselves in the United States. The Act excluded skilled and unskilled labors employed in tap for ten years from entering the country. They had to receive certificates from the Chinese judicature proving that they were adequate to immigrate. Families who were living in the U.S.
